The children and the staff in Sankhu have become a second family for me”, Tom Hoffmann

My fifth month here in Nepal has already come to an end. I used this last month to do one last trek up to the Thorang La pass at 5416 meters. It was an amazing experience during which I finally got to see some Yaks and Blue Sheeps.

For the rest of the month I really enjoyed my remaining time in the children’s home in Sankhu. The last few days where really special as we opened the reservoirs where the waste from the toilette from the last two years have flown to and used it as fertilizer in their garden. Also during this month the home itself got some upgrades. Some modern waterfilters got installed, flowing water on the toilettes and they now have a real shower for the children.

Leaving the home was a really sad moment and I will surely miss all the children and the staff with which I was living with over the last five months. Looking back now, the time went so fast and I realize what an amazing time I had here in Nepal. The children and the staff in Sankhu have become a second family for me. And for this I have to thank first of all the ONGD-FNEL and PA Nepal who made this possible. Thank you so much for this opportunity. Now I’m looking forward to spend one more month in Luxembourg working for the ONGD.
