The Vocational Training Project, a continuation of the V-STEP initiative in Baglung, Nepal. Initiated in 2017, the project has successfully provided vocational training in trades like plumbing, tailoring, metalwork, and building electrician. In response to the changing socio-economic landscape, the project aims to enhance its impact on household income by expanding vocational training opportunities and establishing a permanent vocational training center.

  • Key objectives: The project's primary goals are twofold: first, to produce skilled human resources in the construction and garment sectors; second, to increase the income of poor and vulnerable youths and adults. By implementing strategies such as public-private partnerships, establishing a permanent training center, developing rural youth and adult skills, creating job opportunities, and enhancing communication on employment and industries, the project aims to contribute to the economic growth of Gandaki Province.

  • The project focuses on several key activities. In the realm of vocational skills development, it will provide practical training in at least six trades, including plumbing, sewing, metalworking, and building electricity. To ensure a holistic approach, the project will establish Public-Private Partnerships, collaborating with local government bodies and employers to facilitate practical training and employment opportunities. Additionally, certification and skill testing centers will be set up to ensure that skills meet national standards. To support employment, the project will offer ongoing assistance, including career guidance sessions and job fairs.
